case studies: Siemens AG
The German electrical giant Siemens AG (and Siemens-Nixdorf AG, the PC to mainframe computer manufacturer) publish several prestigious ‘house journals’ of international circulation. Much of the material is written in German and translated into English: text is subsequently copy edited into punchier 'magazine English'.
CDA has worked as English language editors for COM, Dialog, Telcom Report International and Siemens Components.
More recently, we have edited text for Siemen’s ICN product group for use on their B2B website.
Client benefits :: Sharper communication
Siemens is a Munich-based client with a sophisticated appreciation of the localization process. Although it has a team of experienced translators, it recognizes that publicity writing is a vital creative skill that can only be supplied by writers living in the target country.
In the case of Siemens mobile, we eliminated 'Germanic' constructions, reduced jargon and invigorated the text to reposition the product line among its fashionable rivals.
